Our Philosophy

Genesis Community Daycare Centre and its staff provide a safe and loving learning environment enriched with Christian values.  Knowing that each child is uniquely individual, we offer an environment that encourages the growth of the whole child.  This allows them to experiment and express their own individuality while developing a positive self-image.  In all that we do, we try to teach them the love of God.

By providing a theme based, child-centered curriculum, we promote independence, problem-solving, creativity and mutual respect.  This allows us to use the child's lead at points of interest to them.  We want to convey to the children that what they think, feel or like are important.  We believe that all children learn through play and use this medium to create a safe, nurturing and family environment so each child will know that they matter to us.

When limit setting is required, discipline through guidance and redirection are the acceptable methods we use.  We choose to use more of a hand-holding approach, giving the cihld in need some individual attention.  If time out is necessary, we work with the child to help them understand that certain actions have consequences and do our best to give them the skills to choose something more appropriate the next time.  Prayer is also a contributing factor to our child resolutions.

Our daily program has been designed to provide an atmosphere of informality, security, planned/unplanned experiences as well as educational and Christian components.  The experiences that the children engage in at Genesis will help them to learn and grow into responsible, dependable and respectful teenagers.
