Kindergarten Room

Our Kindergarten Program is available for 20 children, ages 4 and 5.  At the head of this program are Mrs. Andrea P. and Mrs. Ivolyn.  Both teachers have been employed with Genesis for a many number of years and truly enjoy their program.

The kindergarten program at Genesis is exactly that, a kindergarten program.  We offer this full-time program to our families who do not want their child to leave the centre to attend an outside school.  The children in our program have the privilege of a very small teacher to child ratio of 1:10.  This allows for more individual attention then they would receive at an outside school while learning the same skill set.   

Our kindergarten program begins at 8:30 am and continues until approximately 4:00 pm.  This allows our families the flexibility to utilize the centre's hours while having their child in a full-day kindergarten class. Throughout the day the teachers work with the children on a number of skill sets:  letter recognition & sounds, consenents & vowels, blends, reading, number recognition, counting, matching, information retention and many others.  WIth the small ratio being to our benefit, you will often find one teacher spending time one-on-one with one child or a small group working on their development. 

During both the morning and afternoon, the teachers incorporate the Christian component into their regualr program.  This is evident in their music and movement activities, stories and craft projects.  The children truly learn how much fun kindergarten can be when they are permitted to learn through a variety of avenues.  A well-balanced program provides each child with the cognitive, social, emotional, language, creative and spiritual needs of their whole development.
